About

Steel

The steel of choice at JC Knives is D2 Tool Steel. D2 is a high carbon high chromium content steel. This means that it is considered to be a semi-stainless tool steel. It is a favourite amongst knife collectors as it is applauded for its good wear resistance, strength, and its increased resistance to corrosion.

Wood

Our handle scales range from beautiful burls to some of the hardest, rarest and most stables woods on earth. Each set of handle scales is handpicked from around the world and is guaranteed to be a book matched set.

All handle scales used at JC Knives are stabilised unless deemed unnecessary. The purpose of stabilizing wood is to make the wood more durable and less prone to cracking or moving.

Leather

JC Knives uses a 9-10oz vegetable tanned Leather, sourced from the United States. The benefit of vegetable tanned leather is that it is environmentally friendly to produce, 100% natural, and has a beautiful aging profile like that of a baseball glove. The production method generally used for this type of leather requires skilled craftsmanship. We handcraft and hand stitch all of our leather goods.

Handle Pins

JC Knives uses Mosaic handle pins, sourced from the United States. This type of handle pin is formed by inserting various sized pins inside a larger tube. The larger pin is then filled with an epoxy resin to seal in the design. This allows for beautiful patterns to be formed, adding to the beauty of the knife.

Workshop

Jono Cook

I am 22 years old and have been making and selling knives since 2013. I have a strong passion for creating tools with my bare hands and an inability to produce anything less than perfection. This is my part-time hobby, with my full-time job being running Neon Hive, a website design, content creation, and digital marketing agency.

Stay tuned for more knives!
